What slides does an AI marketing plan presentation need?
Updated 2026-11-06
A marketing plan deck needs about 12 slides: the ask, the market evidence, the audience, the phases, the checkpoints, the budget by channel, the channel roles, the targets, and a decision slide. Give the AI your budget, targets and channels in one paragraph and it drafts these as outline cards you can edit before any slide is made.
The table below is the real slide list of a recorded 12-slide launch marketing plan (a made-up coffee brand), with the kind of layout the AI chose for each slide. After it come the prompt, the follow-up edit that made the budget chart, and a checklist for the exported PowerPoint.
Five steps
Put your fixed facts in the request
Budget, campaign length, targets, channels, audience and who will read the deck. Facts you type come back unchanged on the slides; facts you leave out may be filled in from web research or proposed by the AI, so you will need to check them.
Choose the scenario and the audience
Under "More" choose the scenario "Product launch" or "Work report" and the audience, for example "Executives". Set the slide count in the request or leave it on Auto.
Read the outline and the research sources
With no file attached, the AI first searches the topic and lists the sources it found; market figures on the slides come from there. Open the sources, delete cards you do not need and reorder the rest. Nothing is charged until you click "Generate presentation".
Ask for the chart you want
After generation, ask in plain words, for example "Turn the budget breakdown on slide 9 into a donut chart, and say which item is the largest in the title". It costs 1 credit per request.
Export and finish in PowerPoint
Export PowerPoint (.pptx), then use the checklist further down. Export is free.
The 12 slides of a real marketing plan, and the prompt behind them
Recorded October 19, 2026: quick mode, the Slate template, Concise text, no images. Nothing was typed except the one-paragraph request below. The outline came 77 seconds after it and the 12 slides 97 seconds after it. Credits: 12 slides at 1 credit, plus 1 credit for the donut-chart edit, 13 in total.
| Slide | Title the AI wrote | Layout chosen |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Hojicha Oat Latte: A $40K Fall Launch Worth Approving | Cover |
| 2 | Deck runs past 10 pages, so here is the route | Agenda |
| 3 | Oat milk is the default alt-milk in coffee orders | Headline figures |
| 4 | Hojicha is the growth bet while matcha is mature | Cards |
| 5 | Office workers 25 to 35 match both trend curves | Statement |
| 6 | A hojicha oat latte fits the gap between matcha and coffee | Statement |
| 7 | Launch runs 6 weeks in three phases | Process |
| 8 | Phase milestones give three checkpoints to adjust | Timeline |
| 9 | Budget skews to social media, events support sampling | Chart |
| 10 | Each channel carries a distinct job in the funnel | Funnel |
| 11 | Both targets tracked weekly against spend | Table |
| 12 | Approve $40K to hit 20,000 cups and 5,000 members | Closing |
Slides 3 to 6 are market evidence from the research step; slides 7 to 12 are the plan itself. That split (evidence, then plan, then ask) is worth keeping for any marketing plan, whatever the product.
Prompt (English)
Launch marketing plan, 12 slides
Make a launch marketing plan for a new product. Tsukiao Coffee, a made-up coffee brand, is launching a hojicha oat latte this fall for office workers aged 25 to 35. The campaign runs 6 weeks with a $40,000 budget; the first-month targets are 20,000 cups sold and 5,000 new members. Channels: social media, in-store events and delivery apps. Look at how oat-milk coffee and hojicha drinks have done over the past two years, but don't name real brands or companies. It's for the management team, 12 slides.
(The whole text. No file was attached. Slide 9 was then changed with the follow-up request: "Turn the budget breakdown on slide 9 into a donut chart, and say which item is the largest in the title.")

- The title names the largest item, as the request asked. The $40,000 total is from the request; the split into $18K, $12K and $10K was proposed by the AI and adds up to it.
- Look at the small label at the top left: it reads "Hojicha Oat Latte Laun", cut short. Short labels like this are worth a look after every export.
- Slide 8 and slide 12 repeat the week-2 and week-4 checkpoints and the split, so a change to the budget has to be made in three places.
What goes in a marketing plan, and which slide holds it?
| Marketing plan part | Slide in the recorded deck |
|---|---|
| Summary and the ask | 1 and 12 |
| Market and trend evidence | 3 to 6 |
| Audience | 5 |
| Positioning | 6 |
| Timeline and phases | 7 and 8 |
| Budget | 9 |
| Channels and their jobs | 10 |
| Goals and measurement | 11 |
Missing from this recording, and worth adding to your own request if you need them: competitors, risks and the team that runs it. Ask for them by name in the request, and raise the slide count.
What should I check after exporting to PowerPoint?
- Numbers: compare every figure with your own data. Market figures come from the research step; open the sources drawer in the editor to see where each one came from.
- The chart: per our guide on charts in slides, the chart comes out as a picture in the PPTX, so to change its numbers either ask the AI to change them before exporting or redraw the chart in PowerPoint.
- Small labels: top-left tags and footers can be cut short, as in the screenshot above.
- Owners and dates: add who owns each checkpoint; the AI does not know your team.
- Repeated numbers: the budget appears on several slides; search the file for the old figure after any change.
How many slides should a marketing plan have?
Our recording used 12 slides for a management review. For a short update 6 to 8 is enough; the product accepts 1 to 30 and the cover counts. The guide on how many slides to use has a table by talk length. An agenda slide is useful only when a deck runs past 10 slides; the AI added one here by its own rule.
Questions
Can AI make a marketing plan presentation?
Yes. Give it your budget, targets, channels and audience in a paragraph, and it drafts an outline and then the slides. In our recorded example, one paragraph became 12 slides in 97 seconds and a follow-up request turned the budget into a donut chart. Check every figure before you present.
Will the AI invent numbers for my plan?
The numbers you type are kept as written. Numbers you do not give can come from web research (the sources are listed) or be proposed by the AI, such as a budget split. You can see and change them in the outline, and the editor has a "Fact-check" action.
Can I edit the marketing plan in PowerPoint?
Yes. The PPTX export keeps text as editable text. Charts come out as pictures, so ask the AI to change the chart before export.
How much text goes on each slide?
Set "Text per slide": Minimal is about 50 words, Concise about 100, Detailed about 150 and Extensive about 210. The recorded deck used Concise; counted from its PDF, its slides held 24 to 88 words each, about 75 in the middle.
How much does it cost?
Writing the outline is free. Quick mode costs 1 credit per slide, deep mode 3, each AI edit 1, and exporting is free. New accounts get 20 free credits; credit packs are one-time purchases (for example $5.99 for 40 credits plus 10 bonus) with no subscription, and credits never expire. See the Pricing page.
Start with your budget and targets
Write your numbers, channels and audience in one paragraph, and review the outline before any slide is made.
